    Aspen Fire Farms

On The Home Front

Aspen Fire Farms continues to grow. The Farm is continuing to expand and has several  treed pastures(7 to 10 acre each)  with rail fenced paddocks adjoining them. This will allow ample space for the safety and well-being of both the horses and their owners. We do not like to see more than five to six horses in the same pastures. This type of management minimizes the risk of any one getting hurt , helps to maintain a more ample pasture and reduces parasite infestation..

We will continue our long term plans of creating a scenic riding trail though-out our 160 acres with no gates or  traffic. The main barn received an impressive over haul in 2007 with an large new stall with private turnout. A brand new tack room in main barn  with seating area over looking the outdoor riding ring.

Lots of fencing to do as always. More trees to plant. Tack rooms to renovate. We have also began to build old west inspired fronts to our boarders tack rooms as well as the" feed shack"

  • The  Fourth pasture is complete, new fencing all around with no adjoining fences to other pastures to prevent bickering across the fence. Our two west pastures have been extended by approx. 2 acres each.

  • We have extended the main barn with a 40 X 12 lean-to and added a Covered Guest lounge area at the end.

  • The expansion or the riding trails continue with more gate free area each year. Trailer parking area is available to boarders.

  • Eight more tandem loads of sand have been added to the Arena to continue the sure footing while working with your horse.

What our Boarders and Visitors Have to say about Aspen Fire Farms

I have been boarding my horses at Aspen Fire Farms for over a year now. While it is a bit of a distance for me to drive from Edmonton, I have found that once I am there, the beauty and the peace of the property and surrounding area more than make up for the travel time. Sandy Eatock's family owns the farm and she is the primary caretaker of the horses. She provides my equine buddies the best of care and attention. I have peace of mind knowing that Sandy will catch any problems before they become crises - as we all know can happen in quite short order with horses. She keeps the herd small, and ensures all are safe with their pasture-mates. The Eatock family go out of their way to make me feel welcome. There is always a helping hand available, whether it be for loading or backing a trailer up, attending to a farrier or a vet, or providing a thought provoking clinic.

Trail rides are another wonderful experience at the farm - and a definite must for unwinding from the city rush. Planned or spur-of-the-moment, whoever is around is welcome to join in, and there are many new paths and destinations to be explored. We have spent many hours wandering autumn fields in the fading sunlight, finding new paths home, and giving both rider and horse new experiences. All in all - a great place to be!

We have found Aspen Fire Farms to be a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Both the owners and the boarders are very friendly and helpful. As first time horse owners, the information, guidance and assistance Sandy and Dave provide us is truly appreciated.   They take a sincere interest in us and our horse which is evident in phone calls, emails and checking in with us when we are there. Trail rides are often planned together for those who wish to do so as well as other social events for the boarders.   Quality care is of utmost importance to Sandy and Dave.  This is evident in the care our horse receives and the pride they take in maintaining their lovely facility.

We are truly grateful for such a place to enjoy our horse and get to know other horse-lovers!

It was a lucky day when I went to visit Sandy at Aspen Fire Farms. I was in a very unfortunate situation of having to go abroad for a long time on short notice. This left me having to find someone to care for my beloved horses. Meeting Sandy and Dave and the visit to the farm put my mind at rest. It was like leaving the horses with a trusted friend. Sandy clearly has a passion for her horses and I would like to thank her on behalf of myself and our two horses Bailey and Brandy.

I met Sandy and Dave a few years ago when I began teaching out at their farm. It is an absolutely beautiful property with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The Eatock family are welcoming and friendly and the other boarders are very personable. I have boarded two of my horses at Aspen Fire and the care they received was fantastic. My current gelding is a high-strung, hard keeper and came to Sandy's quite thin. Under Sandy's care he got back to a healthy weight and learned to relax with all the trail riding we were able to do. There are limitless quiet places to trail ride, hills for conditioning work and available company for trail riding, whether it's Sandy or other boarders.

I am very impressed with the care the horses receive at Aspen Fire. Each horse is looked after as an individual in terms of its turnout and feeding needs. Farrier, vet, de-worming, etc. are booked and followed through on regularly. I have never seen an unhealthy horse at Aspen Fire. They just seem to look and go better the longer they are there!

The facilities are great too. Besides the trail riding there is a large, well maintained arena. The round pen is great for young horses and ground work. The barn is clean and well lit. Sandy and Dave are always improving the property, whether it is new fencing, new flower beds, or the new boarder covered porch attached to the barn.

Aspen Fire Farms is a wonderful place to board. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to any friendly person who cares about their horse. I plan to continue boarding with Sandy and Dave.

Aspen Fire Farms is an amazing facility. I would never imagine keeping my horses anywhere else. Dave and Sandy Eatock take such good care of the grounds and the boarder horses, you can tell they care for each horse as one of their own. As a first time horse owner, I am very confident that anytime I need help or questions answered they will both be there to give a hand. Sandy's taught me a lot, and continues to do so each day! There's always something new and exciting happening at the barn, with group trail rides and lessons, this is certainly a place I would recommend to those looking for a place they want to have their horse call 'home'.

Hi Sandy,  You're farm is beautiful.  Everything was so well kept/organized and the open fields and large areas for riding were very nice.  Your horse too, what a beauty, I can definitely tell he's an arab through and through :)

Thanks so much for having the girls and I out there on Monday. You have a lovely place and we
sure enjoyed our visit! Wish we could invest in a horse right now, but I guess for this year we will start with lessons, and go from there. If we were to buy or lease a horse, yours would be the first place I'd want our horse to live. Thanks again, and I will be in touch. The girls and I would love to come and see you again.

I have boarded my horses at Aspen Fire Farms for five years. My horses are very well looked after by Sandy and Dave. As I live in the city of Edmonton this gives me a great sense of relief that my horses are so well cared for. As a group we often go on trail rides, we also do lessons and have great fun. At Aspen fire Farms there is always a friendly and relaxing atmosphere.
